SLAPSHOT is playing one last show, and it’s on Edge Day, 10/17, with AGNOSTIC FRONT, BOLD, DYS, and a bunch of other great bands. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 7th. Look for a link and don’t sleep!
Thirty Years Ago Tonight, the First Bridge Nine 7-inch Was Released
The first record that I released, a split 7-inch with TENFOLD and SUM OF ALL FEARS, debuted thirty years ago tonight at day two of the 1996 Connecticut Hardcore Fest at the CT Bike Exchange indoor skate park in Bristol, CT. While neither band made it out of the ‘90s, members of Tenfold went on to form or join In My Eyes, Follow Through, Right Brigade, Invasion, American Nightmare, Fastbreak, Piebald, and a ton of other bands. This five-song split single was the first of over 300 releases on Bridge Nine Records to date. Fast forward three decades, and I got to once again spend the day at a skate park hardcore show (watching @jessegustafsonofficial on stage!); this time with my 15 y.o. daughter and 5,000 other BHC fans both young and old (thank you, Austin & company, for making it happen!) That, and the B9 store got in copies of the new @StartTodayHC 12” EP, of which Tenfold’s vocalist Neal St. Clair’s son Tate is a founding member. Everything old is new again, and I couldn’t be more excited about all of it.

Anthony "TJ" Catalfo (RUINER), RIP
From our friends in RUINER:
“Anthony "TJ" Catalfo played drums for Ruiner for what was supposed to be the final two years of the band (2009-2010). He became the annoying little brother in the van pretty much immediately. Not because he was mean-spirited or an asshole. It was mostly because he wasn't. He didn't share the same jaded and pessimistic outlook that the rest of us had at the time. He saw the world through a lens most of us had forgotten; to him, everything still held so much beauty that we took for granted.
TJ lost his battle with cancer today. He will be remembered as a genuinely good and kind-natured person. He leaves behind a wife and three daughters who truly love one another. This was too soon for this young man.
Rest In Power, TJ.”

Lou Koller of Sick of it All, RIP
Lou Koller of the legendary NYHC band Sick Of It All has passed at the age of 59. The band has issued a statement HERE.
I was 17 when I first saw Sick Of It All perform. It was 1993, and Just Look Around had just come out a few months earlier. To say it was a formative experience would be putting it lightly. I was blown away. So much energy, and if I’m being honest, it was a pretty scary room to be in at that age–the crowd was WILD.
I took this photo in early 1995. Before I released my first record on Bridge Nine, I would take photos of bands to contribute to fanzines. This photo is from their show with CIV at Club Babyhead in Providence, RI.
To Lou’s friends and family, I am so sorry for your loss. He inspired me, and he will never be forgotten.

Hatebreed 'Fatal Paradox' B9 Exclusive Variant
Bridge Nine is proud to offer an exclusive vinyl variant of HATEBREED's upcoming album, Fatal Paradox, which hits shelves on November 6. You can pre-order your copy HERE.
Grammy nominated, yet still bloodied and unbowed, HATEBREED has never been more important and influential than now. With millions of records sold and staggering Spotify numbers, the Bridgeport, CT - born hardcore band has spent the last three decades not merely navigating but shaping the sound of heavy music. In a world where the hardcore scene they helped spawn has never been bigger, Hatebreed is on fire.
Produced by long-time collaborator, Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Queensryche) HATEBREED’s ninth album and BLKIIBLK Records debut, Fatal Paradox, finds vocalist Jamey Jasta and crew reemerging after six years between releases with an album of blunt force HATEBREED anthems. Kicking off with “Kill Count Increase”, a song as vitriolic and unforgiving as pit-proven crowd-churners like “Looking Down the Barrel of Today”. Then, smashing into the likes of “Decisions Become Destinies” and “Total Invincible”, Fatal Paradox is the sound of HATEBREED doing what it does best. Even now, nearly 35 years into their bloody run, they are as furious as ever, scorching festival stages including France’s Hellfest, Germany’s Wacken and numerous Danny Wimmer Presents festivals in the US. In 2026, Hatebreed isn't merely an icon of hardcore and extreme music. They're a bloody, brutal force unto themselves.

B9 Podcast v.3 Episode 4: Jesse Stand Hard (Right Brigade, AN, Invasion)
Chris B9 is joined by longtime friend Jesse Gustafson (more commonly known as Jesse Standhard) to discuss their 35-year history together, from the early 1990s suburban Connecticut hardcore scene to their respective career paths. Jesse reflects on the DIY hustle that defined their youth, detailing how he started a fanzine at 15 and eventually launched Standhard Records to release early demos for friends' bands. He explores the creative drive that keeps him connected to the scene and the unique community-building nature of hardcore that has maintained their friendship for decades. Jesse also explores: The DIY "Hacks" of the 90s: How they used "bootlegged" Kinko’s cards to print flyers and zines, and Radio Shack dialers to make free long-distance calls to labels and bands. Defining Life Experiences: Jesse recounts being arrested at a 1993 Fugazi show (later documented on the band’s live series) and his years roadieing for Blood for Blood while maintaining a straight-edge lifestyle. The Symbiosis of Career and Community: How his 20-year career in real estate allows him the freedom to be present for his family and coach his kids' teams, a topic he recently chronicled in his book, Fuck Your House.
