NYHC band Incendiary Device announce self-titled debut album out November 10th

October 27, 2023 Bridge Nine

Today, Bridge Nine Records announces the release of New York band Incendiary Device debut album, Incendiary Device, due out November 10th. Founded by NYHC journeyman, documentarian, and filmmaker Drew Stone (vocals), and Tristan D’Graves (bass), and rounded out by Shaun Brennan (guitar) and Mike Flaherty (drums), Incendiary Device’s music is steeped in early hardcore and classic punk while inescapably maintaining the edge and grit of their New York roots. Heavily influenced by Minor Threat, Negative Approach, SSD and early Black Flag, Stone and D’Graves share a rich musical history having played and toured together for over a decade in several New York-based bands (Antidote, The High & The Mighty, Drew Stone Hit Squad). Started in 2022, today the band share their first recorded music with the punchy title track “Incendiary Device.” The song packs that old-school character with electrifying guitars and comes alongside a fiery performance video, which can be watched HERE.

On the lyrics, D’Graves states:

“Incendiary Device is about the toxic nature of social media. Lyrically it uses the analogy between a weapon of war and social media as a social weapon. An incendiary device on the battlefield is not a precision weapon, innocent bystanders in the blast range become victims. Social media has the same effect. People spew hateful rhetoric from their phones and computers and sometimes extremely kind and genuine individuals get caught in the blast range. This song was inspired by a specific incident where an innocuous friend of ours became one of those targets.”

Incendiary Device’s self-titled release features 12 tracks that capture the energy and rage of NYHC with hook-laden songwriting sensibility, separating them from their peers. Thematically it focuses largely on the dichotomy between maintaining a youthful spirit at heart with the realities of being middle-aged in a technology-focused world. The album is self-produced, primarily by D’Graves and Stone with engineering by Brian DiMeglio at Found Soundation Studios in Brooklyn, NY, and mixing by Dan Korneff and Neal “Zum” Osteberg.

Incendiary Device has toured nationally and shared the stage with bands including Biohazard, Madball, Sheer Terror, and Gogol Bordello, and have announced a record release show on November 12th at Bowery Electric as part of the club’s long-running, free Sunday Matinee series.

July 31, 2023 Bridge Nine

***Update: SOLD OUT!*** Bridge Nine is proud to partner with our old friend Casey and his Iodine Recordings label on this pressing of Stretch Arm Strong’s album “A Revolution Transmission” - pre-order the limited-to-100 B9 exclusive on coke bottle clear with white spatter HERE!

About this collaboration:
Few punk bands have the history and influence held by hardcore veterans Stretch Arm Strong. Formed in early 1992 in Columbia, South Carolina, Stretch Arm Strong perfectly executes a style of Hardcore Punk that few other bands have been able master as well as them. The band embodies a style of Melodic Hardcore, but seamlessly incorporates elements of pop-punk and heavy breakdowns. Their style appealed to fans of all punk sub-genres, allowing them to remain an important band in our scene until this day.

Iodine Recordings and Stretch Arm Strong have partnered together to reissue “A Revolution Transmission”, which has become one of the most iconic and popular hardcore punk records of the early 2000's, and has been out of print for over 20 years. This limited pressing has been completely redesigned and packaged using elements of the original art and completely remastered for vinyl by Jack Shirley (Quicksand, Joyce Manor, Deafheaven) at The Atomic Garden in San Francisco, CA. Offered in several exclusive color vinyl variants.

Death Before Dishonor "Master Of None" - new single OUT NOW

July 21, 2023 Bridge Nine

Album art by Justin Valliere (Black Coffiend)

Death Before Dishonor have released their newest single: “Master Of None”! This offering includes both the title track and a cover of the Dead Boys classic, Sonic Reducer, both of which are now streaming.

According to the band:

“Months after ‘Unfinished Business’ was released, the pandemic hit. Touring was paused but we knew we couldn’t lose our momentum and wait another decade in-between records. Zeuss’s production on that record was just the start of many heavy things to come. After welcoming our guitar player B-Roll back into the band, we couldn’t wait to get into the studio again. ‘Master of None’ is a showcase of what we consider all the best aspects of our sound. Songs to be sung in basements and festival fields all over the world. Metallic hardcore riffs mixed with UK punk anthems, but never too far outside the traditional hardcore roots from where Death Before Dishonor started over 20 years ago.”

“Lyrically, Master of None is about breaking the shackles of mental manipulation. Most people can relate to the struggle of someone in their life wielding emotions or guilt against them. With this track, we’re taking aim at those who use these tactics to maintain control, and are providing an an outlet for anyone ready to fight back."

Place your pre-order for the 7” now, and catch Death Before Dishonor on their European tour starting on July 29th!

Gold variant is a Coretex Records exclusive.

Roll Call's 'Perpetuate' EP Now Available on 4 Vinyl Variants

May 19, 2023 Bridge Nine

The Perpetuate 12" EP is now available in 4 variants and is shipping worldwide. You can also visit the Bridge Nine store and buy it in-person! Save 15% if you get the bundle that includes all variants! Check it out HERE.

Guitarist Brian Kemsley (Outbreak) and drummer James Philips (Sea Haven, Final Fight) wrote six songs in November 2021 before recruiting bassist Cornell Ward and vocalist Chad Leddy to record their EP last summer.

Adam Yoe of No Echo described the opening track as “… a blazer that makes its bones somewhere in the midpoint between late '80s NYHC and early ‘oughts Boston. The clean production doesn’t skimp on rawness or urgency, which lends it a vibrant and decidedly current vibe.”

Since the initial release of their EP, they have performed and made a name for themselves across the American northeast, as well as southeast Asia. Keep your eye out for more music to come!

“Bridge Nine Records, a hardcore and punk music label hailing from the mid-90s, commemorates Record Store Day this Saturday with a remixed and remastered version of Agnostic Front’s “United Blood” EP.  Agnostic Front helped pave the way for the hardcore scene in New York in the early 80s, with “United Blood” being their first release in 1983. Record Store Day is an annual event that was created to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store. Artists will often have records pressed and released specifically for RSD. For this reason, RSD releases are not available for pre-order and cannot be held in advance. Instead, folks are encouraged to engage with their local record store and let them know what RSD releases you want them to carry! This helps them plan what to order, how many, etc.

So be sure to let your local record store know you want them to carry Agnostic Front’s new United Blood extended session 12” LP!

Also, be sure to review the full Record Store Day 2023 list here and comment to let us know what we should carry here in the Bridge Nine Records store! To learn more about Record Store Day, go to https://recordstoreday.com/.

American Nightmare Announce New 10" EP, Bridge Nine Has An Exclusive Variant

January 23, 2023 Bridge Nine

The new EP from American Nightmare and their first 10" vinyl release, which will be officially released on 6/01/23. This is the "evergreen" variant of their new EP on vocalist Wes Eisold’s Heartworm label that is limited to 250 copies and is exclusively available from Bridge Nine. Pre-order your copy HERE!

Dedicated To The Next World is AN refusing to rest on legacy. The legendary hardcore punk band returns with four new songs that sound like classic and future AN, stripped down and sped up to their trademarked urgency and live violence. With stream of conscious lyrics and existential dread, these are revival songs for the modern disenchanted.

"How I Got Away" recalls AN's anthemic hardcore sound ala tracks "We Are" and "The World Is Blue." "Self Check-Out" is a minute-long punk blister. "Real Love" flies like speed fueled Stooges and "Praying Hands..." nods to the influences of Bad Brains and Negative Approach.

Having started in 2000 and initially breaking up in 2004, the band reunited in 2012 and subsequently launched a second life of lauded shows and records proving that there is life after youth.

Recorded live to 2 inch tape by American Nightmare drummer Alex Garcia-Rivera at Mystic Valley Recording Studio in Boston. Mastered and cut for vinyl by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service.

Shipping late May 2023.

Track Listing:
01. How I Got Away
02. Self Check-Out
03. Real Love
04. Praying Hands On Fire

The Story Behind the Frank Turner ‘Beverly’ Record

June 13, 2022 Bridge Nine

Frank Turner and Chris Wrenn (with Frank’s limited “Beverly” 7 inch)

Frank Turner kicked off his ambitious 50 States in 50 Days Full U.S. tour on Monday, June 13th with a matinee in Portsmouth, NH and an evening show in Portland, ME. Chris was excited to see Frank and give him the limited edition green vinyl variant of Frank's "Beverly" 7-inch. This 7-inch features a recording Chris made via DV cam in 2009, when he played an impromptu intimate performance in the backyard of Matt Pike (Some Kind of Hate, 33 & West), who lived in Beverly, MA at the time. Many people don't know that, while he is primarily known for his folk-rock sound, Frank started out in a hardcore band called Million Dead and is still a huge hardcore/punk fan to this day. In fact, his favorite hardcore bands are Black Flag and Converge, who three members of which coincidentally joined us at Pike's house for this private show. Frank wrote of the evening in his tour blog:

"Some nights things come together in such a way as to make me pinch myself. My all-time, hands down favourite hardcore band ever is Converge. I have everything they’ve done, seen em a bunch of times (hell, I fell in love with a French girl whilst watching them at the Electric Ballroom a few years ago), and am generally utterly, hopelessly into them. So imagine my total, piss-stained shock when, in Matt’s garden, I find three members of Converge (Jake, Nate and Kurt) waiting for my impromptu show. This was serious fan-boy territory for me, but after pulling myself together, I found them to be really very nice. Evan was laughing his arse off at me constantly as I bit my lip and asked for a photo (mainly to send to Ben from Million Dead, so he’ll hate me, which totally worked). The show was improvised and entertaining – Matt’s two kids are big fans, so as well as hardcore heros, I had a bunch of two-year-olds dancing for me while I played Photosynthesis, their favourite song. Like I say, a surreal evening to say the least, and I went to bed feeling happy."

You can see a bit of the performance featured on Frank's tour vlog of that day, including Pike's kids (who are grown now!), and me behind them with my DV cam, by clicking here.

Left: Photo of Frank by Matt Pike in Matt’s backyard the night after the show. Right: Back of the Frank Turner ‘Beverly’ 7-inch record.

Fast forward 11 years to 2020 when Bridge Nine Records were notified that we were getting the boot from our HQ and we needed to figure out how to transition to a new space. As I packed up the Bridge Nine vault for the move and looked at old, archived recordings, I found this one and contacted Frank to see if we could press the songs on a 7" as part of our "Raid The Archive" 5-record set, and he graciously agreed. Making the record even more special, I commissioned a painting of Matt Pike's house from my dad, artist Roy Wrenn, for the record cover. It was serendipitous that the new home we found for Bridge Nine was right back in Beverly. As a huge Frank Turner fan myself, I am deeply grateful to Frank and Xtra Mile Recordings for allowing this record to become a reality.

Frank will be selling very limited amounts of the green vinyl variant of the "Beverly" 7-inch at each show throughout his tour. If you miss out, it's still available as one of the special records featured in the "Raid The Archive" mystery set (pro tip: there's a blue variant in HERE). Click here for all of Frank's tour dates and say hi if you're going to the Boston show!
