Lou Koller of the legendary NYHC band Sick Of It All has passed at the age of 59. The band has issued a statement HERE.
I was 17 when I first saw Sick Of It All perform. It was 1993, and Just Look Around had just come out a few months earlier. To say it was a formative experience would be putting it lightly. I was blown away. So much energy, and if I’m being honest, it was a pretty scary room to be in at that age–the crowd was WILD.
I took this photo in early 1995. Before I released my first record on Bridge Nine, I would take photos of bands to contribute to fanzines. This photo is from their show with CIV at Club Babyhead in Providence, RI.
To Lou’s friends and family, I am so sorry for your loss. He inspired me, and he will never be forgotten.
