In an ironic twist, the last show of Slapshot's "Pope's Dead, You're Next" Tour was 20 years ago today
Twenty years ago this month, SLAPSHOT headed to Europe with CHAMPION and SOME KIND OF HATE on what was originally their “Relight the Fire” tour, but quickly renamed as the “Pope’s Dead, You’re Next” tour (Pope John Paul II died April 2nd, 2005). Here are a bunch of never-before-seen photos (and a few that we’ve posted over the years) from that tour two decades ago:

20 Years Ago... Agnostic Front's "Another Voice" Tour With Death Before Dishonor
Hard to believe it’s been twenty years since this iconic tour ripped across continents.
Back in 2005, Agnostic Front set out on a three month European and North American tour. Originally, Terror was supposed to join them overseas—but when they dropped out last minute, Death Before Dishonor stepped up. At the time, DBD hadn't been on tour for longer than a week… but that was about to change.
Thrown into the deep end, they crushed it across Europe in support of AF. When the tour rolled back into North America, DBD stayed on. What started as a fill-in became a full-blown run—over two months of pure carnage.
Now, two decades later, this anniversary's timing couldn’t be better: Death Before Dishonor is dropping their sixth full-length, Nowhere Bound, on May 16th via Bridge Nine Records.
Their new single Pushed To The Edge is out now: check it out and pre-order the album today!

Death Before Dishonor: "Nowhere Bound" coming May 16th
Today, Boston hardcore legends Death Before Dishonor announce their sixth full-length album, Nowhere Bound, set for release May 16th on Bridge Nine Records. Across eleven tracks, the band deliver with furiosity through resilient vocals, thrashy riffs, and accelerated drums. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed), and recorded at Rock Valley Studio, Easthampton, MA and Planet-Z, Wilbraham, MA. It can be preordered now through Bridge Nine.
On writing the album, drummer Ben Hilton shares:
“Nowhere Bound is a collection of statements and observations that represent our mindset through the past 6 years since our last record. There are familiar themes from past records, like loyalty & friendship, but we also take on entirely new topics for us, like describing what it’s like to maintain your principles as you get older. Whether it’s a song about personal conflict, mental illness, or venting on the state of the world, these are thoughts that cloud our minds until we put pen to paper and address them.”
February single “Overruled” delivered a great sonic indication of what to expect on Nowhere Bound and now the band follow it up with the pummeling “Pushed To The Edge.” Centered around reaching a breaking point, the two-minute long track packs a thunderous energy ready for two-step mosh and epic shout alongs. Stream it HERE.
Death Before Dishonor has a number of upcoming shows including a record release in Boston on May 18th at Sonia with Missing Link, Shattered Realm, Street Power and more. The band will then head out on a west coast tour with Haywire in June. Full dates below.
Formed in 2000, Death Before Dishonor began its partnership with Bridge Nine Records with the release of Friends Family Forever in 2005, followed by Count Me In in 2007. The latter album marked a significant turning point for the band, helping them gain wider recognition in the hardcore punk scene. The band has since released several more albums on the label, including Better Ways to Die in 2009 and Unfinished Business in 2019.
Death Before Dishonor is Bryan Harris (vocals), Ben Kelly (guitar), Justin Viera (guitar), Greg Chihoski (Bass) and Ben Hilton (drums).
CDs are available in North America from Bridge Nine, in Europe from Cargo and Coretex, and the UK from Warpath Records!

Bandcamp Celebrates 30 years of Bridge Nine
We were honored to have Bandcamp write an article about us celebrating our upcoming 30 year anniversary. The article highlights highly influential B9 releases and takes a look at the history of the label. Featuring insights on artists like Have Heart, War On Women, Crime In Stereo, and many, many more. (We do feel obligated to respectfully correct two small errors in the article: Terror is based in Los Angeles, not NYC, and while Youth Code’s Ryan George sang for Carry On, the drummer on their album A Life Less Plagued was Lucas McFadden.) Click HERE to read the article. If you don’t feel like reading, you can still press the play button on the top of the article and listen to Bandcamp’s selection of B9 titles!
