Bridge Nine “Straight Edge Alliance” T-Shirt
First Printing: 1997
1st Edition (1997-1999)
The original Star Wars movies were re-released in theatres in early 1997 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original film, and Star Wars fever was palpable (or should I say, Palpatine-able??) This T-shirt was an effort to connect the “Jedi discipline” of self-control and mental focus with the new wave of interest in straight-edge hardcore, while giving more people a reason to wear a Bridge Nine shirt despite the label having released fewer records than T-shirts by this point. In the words of Jim from Moo Cow Records to Chris Wrenn at a show in the late ‘90s, “Is Bridge Nine a T-shirt company or a record label?”
Printed by Equal Vision Records starting in 1997 on unbleached-cotton Gildan Ultra Cotton Heavyweight and Fruit of the Loom Heavy Cotton T-shirts. Two-color screen-printed artwork illustrated by Chris Wrenn is featured on the front, and a small alliance logo with “Straight Edge Alliance” and “X Bridge Nine Records X” is printed on the back.
