Each year The Phoenix recognizes bands across the genre spectrum for undoubted talent in the annual Best Music Poll voted on by thousands of fans across New England. Defeater released the Lost Ground EP in November 2009 and with less than a month to do so the EP landed itself on several Top Lists of '09 including PunkNews, Mammoth Press and Paste Punk. While their debut ,Travels, was called “a new artistic peak for hardcore” by Punknews and “the perfect definition of modern hardcore” by Lambgoat, Lost Ground has already surpassed the critical acclaim Defeater has received thus far. Since the release of Lost Ground Defeater has shared the road with All Teeth, Touche Amore, Make Do And Mend, Crime In Stereo and showcased on multiple stages at SXSW. Starting April 24th, Defeater will be crossing the pond just in time for the Groezrock Festival in Belgium before trekking across Europe with label-mates Dead Swans for three weeks.
