This past Friday night turned out to be a pretty memorable evening - Matt Pike stopped by the B9 office earlier in the day, and mentioned that he was going to try to get Frank Turner to play a backyard set at his place in Beverly, MA after Frank opened for The Offspring at the 7,000+ seat Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA. Sure enough, the text came in that Frank was down and at 10PM a bunch of us headed over. A group of 25 or so gathered, Pike fired up the bbq, and a couple of 2 year olds up way past their bedtimes joined us in the backyard garage turned hang out space. Frank played for 30 or so minutes, a great hang out session ensued, and Friday went down in my opinion as one of the better, more intimate shows that I've been at (up there with Integrity @ The Chopping Block pub in Mission Hill). For those not familiar with Frank's music, please do yourself a favor and check out his "Love, Ire & Song" album ASAP, and look out for his Epitaph debut this fall!
